Since 2020, all our sessions have been via remote videocall and/or telephone, and our clients have found these to be comfortable and convenient. Research evidence supports the use of online therapy as being at least as effective as face-to-face sessions.

Secure Virtual Sessions

Online sessions can be arranged via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Skype or FaceTime or over the phone – whichever is most convenient for you.

Confidentiality is key and your therapist will ensure that your session will not be overheard on their end of the call. Being comfortable for sessions is essential. So, we would recommend that you make sure you have somewhere you can have your session where you don’t feel that you will be interrupted or overheard. A good internet or phone signal is also required so that there are no connection issues.

Once your appointment is booked, you will receive a link to join your therapist on a videocall shortly before your appointment is due to start. If you have indicated that you would prefer a telephone appointment, your therapist will call you at the time of your appointment. All sessions last 50 minutes.

Steps in the Online Therapy Journey

  • You can fill out an online enquiry form and one of our friendly team will get back to you with more information. Or you can book a free 15-minute chat with Dr Thrasher to discuss your enquiry. Below you can find links to make an online booking on enquiry
  • To begin with, you will be offered an initial assessment session in which to meet your therapist, discuss current difficulties, and get a flavour of how CBT works.
  • At the end of this appointment, your therapist will be able to give you an opinion as to whether CBT or another specialist approach is recommended for you. If is for you, your therapist will be able to tell you how many sessions you are likely to need, and a personalised treatment plan will be suggested.
  • If you decide to go ahead with sessions, you will be able to book these online with your therapist. Usually, sessions are booked weekly or fortnightly, but you are in control and can slow or stop sessions at any time.

Benefits of Virtual CBT Sessions

There is good evidence that virtual sessions work – with research evidence for online sessions being at least as effective as traditional face-to-face sessions. They are convenient as they can be more flexible around busy schedules. Being in your own home or other familiar space can allow you to feel more comfortable and relaxed. It also takes the stress of travelling to or locating a therapy room. In our experience, clients find this a simple and convenient way to have sessions.
